University of Glasgow

575th Anniversary

To mark its 575th anniversary, the University of Glasgow commissioned a bespoke visual identity that would reflect its heritage while looking confidently to the future. From early research and concept exploration through to refinement, close collaboration with the University’s marketing team was central to the process.

The challenge:

We needed to develop an anniversary identity that balanced heritage with modernity. The visual language needed to feel premium and authoritative, align with the University’s evolving brand, and work consistently across digital and print.

The solution:

The identity was designed to be distinctive, functional and engaging. Drawing on symbols synonymous with the University and the City of Glasgow, we developed a visual identity that firmly grounds the anniversary in heritage and place. We utilised the University’s new brand colours to create a bespoke 575 anniversary palette, including a gold accent to mark the significance of the milestone. The overarching aim of the visual identity was to bolster status and reputation, build momentum around the anniversary celebrations, and position the University as forward-thinking – appealing to both home and international audiences.
