Accessible Annual Reports

Sport Wales, the national organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales, commissioned us to design and artwork their accessible Annual Reports and Accounts 2022-23 in both English and Welsh.

A person holds a tablet displaying the Sport Wales Annual Report for 2022–2023, featuring a bold red banner with white text alongside diverse imagery of athletes and activities.

The challenge:

We needed to accurately create four versions of the report rich with complex charts and tables – detailing accounts of funding and distribution from the National Lottery and the Welsh Government. With strict milestones, tight deadlines, and the involvement of numerous stakeholders, efficiency was critical. It was also essential for the reports to be fully accessible, adhering to WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.

It highlights key investment details with a map of Wales pinpointing funding allocations and supporting data presented in vibrant red and blue icons. A double-page spread in Welsh focusing on financial data and analysis. An image featuring a coach in a red jacket writing on a clipboard while interacting with two smiling young boys in football kits on a pitch.

The solution:

We created a design for the report which effectively showcased Sport Wales’s activities and funding. Using our experience with accessible design, we ensured the reports surpassed the required accessibility guidelines, all while visually encapsulating Sport Wales’s significant milestones of the year.

The impact:

Campaign and Events Manager at Sport Wales, said:

“This has been the easiest Annual Report production to date thanks to the help of the team at Creative Triangle. Their attention to detail and care for the project has enabled us to bring our organisation’s achievements to life. Their experience with accessible design meant that we had full trust that our deliverables would be met to the quality and timescales agreed. Despite some challenges, the CT team have remained flexible and patient, which we’re very grateful for.”
