The State of Ageing 2023 Campaign

The Centre for Ageing Better, a charity working to create a society where everyone enjoys later life, launched their flagship State of Ageing 2023 report. Painting a detailed picture of the older population in England the report shines a light on the growth in size and diversity of older age groups and the many ways in which the older population is changing. It highlights inequalities, and the need for urgent action to stop them growing rapidly over the coming decades.

The challenge:

We developed a unique look and feel for the State of Ageing and have applied it to a range of resources including an interactive landing page, suite of animated infographics depicting key facts and figures, social assets including statics and reels, handouts, a printed summary document and an interactive version.

A spread from the report, featuring personal stories alongside key statistics. A GIF showing the percentage of non-decent homes headed by someone aged 55 and over. A GIF showing life expectancy by region. An open spread presenting data on poverty through graphs and text.

The solution:

We created a logo and then replicated the colours and shapes throughout the communications – using the circular device and colours to hold and highlight imagery. As the Centre for Ageing Better have a strong and inspiring bank of imagery, we developed a photography led design that really focuses on the idea of breaking down preconceptions and ageism.

The impact:
