WQE is a large and vibrant Sixth Form College in Leicester, providing courses for nearly 4,000 students. As a thriving educational institution, WQE needed a suite of creative materials to capture the energy of college life, reflect their values of Curiosity, Commitment, Challenge, Community, and Consideration, and appeal to prospective students in a highly competitive sector.
The college required a cohesive visual identity that could work seamlessly across multiple channels—from print to digital—while standing out from competitors. The prospectus design needed to be bold and inspiring, while the website, film, and information packs had to extend the same creative approach to different audiences: students, parents, and governors. Each piece had to communicate professionalism and vibrancy while staying true to the college’s core values.
We began with the 2025 entry prospectus, creating a modern and bold design that incorporated dynamic graphical elements to embody WQE’s values. To strengthen the visual identity, we directed a photoshoot using rich tones and creative lighting to capture authentic portraits of the students. The result was a distinctive prospectus that set WQE apart in a crowded market.
Building on this success and after gathering a full understanding of the brief through stakeholder meetings, we planned and mapped the navigation and understood the operational processes and interfaces to input the right functionality for WQE. We redesigned the college’s new website, ensuring the same bold style from the prospectus was carried through to digital, with clear navigation and an engaging user experience.
To support recruitment further, we produced two films – firstly a virtual open day film to showcase life at WQE and created a governors information pack, tailored to a leadership audience but consistent with the wider identity. The second film was an enticer film aimed at Year 10 students to engage with students at the start of their college pathway and to encourage them to visit and selected WQE as their first choice college.
For 2025/26, we updated the content and front cover of the full prospectus, delivered as a digital file. We also created a pocket-sized mini prospectus for students and parents, featuring QR codes that link directly to the full online version. This project reinforces our expertise as a trusted design agency for the further education sector.
